This is how FAM transformed my life
2021 - I had been on hormonal birth control since I was a teenager. By my late twenties, I considered myself “healthy”, but in reality, I was struggling. No matter how much I slept, I was always exhausted. My skin broke out with acne all over my chest and back. My libido was practically nonexistent. I felt constant anxiety, and was unable to cope with stress.
January 2022 - After multiple visits to my doctor and hearing that my blood work was fine and I was healthy, I was told to stop “stressing.” But something didn’t add up. I knew I needed to take matters into my own hands. That’s when an acupuncturist suggested my birth control might be the cause of my symptoms. It was the first time anyone had connected the dots between my birth control and my overall health.
I was shocked, but when I dug deeper and did my own research, everything I was feeling finally made sense. I realized that the birth control I had been using for years was affecting more than just my ability to get pregnant—it was impacting my mental health, energy, and physical well-being.
I was determined to get off hormonal birth control, but I wasn’t ready for a baby. What choice did I have?
Then, through a series of serendipitous conversations with friends, I first heard about Fertility Awareness Methods (FAM).
I was eager to learn everything I could, but the internet was overwhelming. There were so many methods to choose from, and I had no idea where to start. How would I know I was doing it right? How could I trust it—especially when it came to birth control—and how could I get my partner on board?
March 2022 - I finally made the decision to have my IUD removed and booked an appointment with a Fertility Awareness Educator.
That’s when everything clicked. Learning about my body and how it worked was nothing short of mind-blowing. I transitioned off hormonal birth control and began to feel more connected to myself than ever before.
I understood the rhythms of my hormones, how they impacted me emotionally, physically, and mentally, and it was the first time I didn’t feel like I was constantly fighting against my body. Instead of feeling exhausted, anxious, or disconnected, I was empowered, listening to my body, and understanding its cues.
April 2022 - I couldn’t keep this knowledge to myself. I wanted every woman to feel the same freedom and confidence in their own bodies. So, I registered to become a certified Fertility Awareness Methods educator.
Learning FAM didn’t just change my relationship with birth control; it transformed my relationship with myself. It gave me a deep understanding of my body and my needs, and it empowered me in ways I never imagined.
October 2023 - I became a FEMM-certified FAM teacher, and Hormonal Hales was born. Now, I’m on a mission to help other women experience the same transformation I did, so they can feel confident in their bodies, trust their cycles, and take control of their health—without the fear, confusion, or overwhelm.
THIS COURSE IS NOT FOR YOU IF
You aren’t ready to commit to learning FAM and being an active participant. FAM requires you to observe your cervical mucus throughout the day, take your basal body temperature each morning, and record your observations each night.
You’re currently on hormonal birth control—Since HBC suppresses ovulation and obscures key fertility biomarkers like cervical mucus and basal body temperature, you won’t be able to effectively chart in real time during the course. This course is best suited for those who are off HBC and ready to track their natural cycle.
You aren’t willing to change your behaviors during your fertile window. If you are trying to avoid pregnancy you must be willing to abstain from sex, have alternative sex, or use a backup method of contraception like barriers during your fertile window.
